Redemption
Testimony time.
I want to share yet another way God has outdone Himself in my life. The focus here is redemption.
Years ago, I was blessed with an opportunity to start a new career with a full-service marketing agency. I’ve worked in Property Management since I graduated college, but I’ve always loved writing. This company took a chance on me based on the content of my blog. Nothing but God.
Unfortunately, addiction was getting a tighter grip on me day by day. Eventually they had to let me go. I left them no choice.
Fast forward a few years — I’ve gotten sober. My relationship with God has deepened. I’m employed and doing better. God is moving in my life.
One of my focuses this past year has been my career — I want to build and grow in what I’m passionate about, and use the talents God has blessed me with.
So I started my own book editing business on the side, and continued to stay active on my blog, in an effort not to let my gifts go to waste. My therapist challenged me to make a business plan, to get a vision for what I wanted my career to look like in the future, and get a mindset geared towards growth.
Unbeknownst to me, while I was leaning into obedience and faith, my former boss had been asking about me and hoping to reach out with a job offer. This was the marketing agency that I was (rightfully) fired from years ago…
I connected with the CEO, a woman that I’ve always respected and admired… And now I work part-time as their Strategic Marketing & Content Specialist — a job that I loved and that never felt like work.
ONLY GOD CAN MAKE A MOVE LIKE THAT. He is a God that restores, and He does it without our help. All He needs is our obedience, faith, and surrender.
This didn’t happen overnight. This is 3+ years later. And those 3+ years have been filled with miraculous growth in the Lord, hard work, and a growing, active faith.
I hope it’s clear that I’m boasting in the Lord, and none of what I’ve done. Letting God lead my life is one of the wisest things I’ve ever done, and it only came after years of destruction at my own hands.
And even after all that I had ruined, GOD HAS REDEEMED IT ALL, and then some.
As someone that has tried to be the god of my own life, it is so refreshing and joyful to experience life in my Heavenly Father’s hands. It’s peaceful to live in His grace, and the goodness of His character, instead of my limited abilities.
To whoever needs to hear this: I pray that you give God room to redeem and restore what you think is beyond repair. THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN’T DO. God is bigger than our mistakes, shortcomings, and
xoxoxo,
DASH
